Dukeries Rally - a win and three cars in the top five

Andy Burton furthered his lead in the Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series last weekend (June 11) courtesy of a fourth career victory in the Dukeries Rally. The familiar Kumho-shod Peugeot Cosworth of Burton and co-driver Robin Kellard finished the event 24 seconds clear of the Ford Focus WRC of defending BTRDA Gold Star Champions Steve Perez and Paul Spooner. Other cars wearing Kumho rubber included the Subaru Impreza of Roger Chilman and Andrew Sankey (4th overall) and the Mitsubishi Evo 9 of David Wright and Michael Wilkinson (5th overall). The fifth of the eight round BTRDA Series, the Quinton Stages Rally, takes place on July 9.
Commenting on another week of success for Kumho’s European Motorsport Division, its Manager Steve Thompson remarked, “It’s very rewarding to find our tyres achieving regular success in many different areas of the sport. The research and development required can only serve to improve the design of Kumho’s already very successful range of performance road tyres.”
